Appeals court reverses release of Columbia activist Mahdawi

A federal appeals panel has overturned a lower court order that freed pro-Palestinian activist and Columbia University student Mohsen Mahdawi, clearing the way for the Trump administration to re-arrest and potentially deport him. The Second Circuit ruled the lower court judge had overstepped his authority by intervening before Mahdawi's case moved through the immigration court system. The Trump administration has been pursuing Mahdawi's deportation for over a year.
