US launches new strikes against Iran as war costs mount

The US has carried out fresh strikes against Iran as the war grinds on, with Defense Secretary Hegseth putting the total bill at $37.5 billion so far. Hegseth and the Joint Chiefs Chairman are simultaneously seeking a $1.5 trillion defense budget, including $70 billion earmarked specifically for the Iran campaign.
