Zelenskyy fires Ukraine's top general after mass protests

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has sacked Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and appointed General Mykhailo Drapati as Ukraine's new head of armed forces. The shake-up follows nationwide protests triggered by Zelenskyy's earlier dismissal of a popular defence minister, and reflects deepening public frustration with the war's leadership. Zelenskyy also reversed course by inviting the sacked defence minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, back into government.
