Eastern US heat dome leaves 150,000 homes without power

A "heat dome" has settled over the eastern United States, driving temperatures close to 40°C and causing electricity prices to soar as utility grids buckle under demand. More than 150,000 households have already lost power as the extreme heat event strains infrastructure across the region.
