Seattle moves to ban new datacenter construction

Seattle's city council is set to pass a year-long moratorium on new datacenter construction next week, making it the largest US city to do so as backlash against the AI infrastructure boom intensifies. Four companies had sought to build five large datacenters that would have consumed roughly a third of Seattle's current daily electricity supply.
