Congress Passes Sweeping Russia Sanctions Bill

Congress has passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, giving Trump authority to impose tariffs on major buyers of Russian energy — including China and India — and marking the first Ukraine-support legislation Congress has passed in over two years. The bill cleared the House in a 262-159 vote despite dividing both parties, with critics warning the broad powers could eventually be turned on US allies.
