CDC expands cyclosporiasis outbreak to 15 US states

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has broadened its investigation into the largest known cyclosporiasis outbreak in US history, adding six new states including Arkansas, Missouri, and North Carolina for a total of 15 affected states. The intestinal parasite outbreak has already produced the first two US deaths linked to the disease, both reported in Michigan. The source of contamination has not yet been publicly identified.
