Hantavirus cruise ship may show rare human-to-human spread

The MV Hondius, a luxury cruise ship in the Atlantic, is sailing to the Canary Islands after a suspected hantavirus outbreak killed three people and sickened crew members. Scientists are alarmed because hantavirus normally spreads only through contact with rodent droppings — evidence of human-to-human transmission would mark an extremely rare and dangerous development. A British and a Dutch crew member are being medically evacuated from the vessel.
