US and Iran agree to two-week ceasefire

Trump announced a provisional two-week ceasefire with Iran Tuesday evening, hours after threatening to destroy the country's "whole civilization" if it didn't reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan brokered the last-minute diplomatic intervention, and Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed Tehran will allow "safe passage" through the strait while talks begin. Full negotiations are set to kick off in Islamabad on Friday.
