UK farm inheritance tax takes effect, sparking concern
A new UK inheritance tax on farms and family businesses worth £2.5 million or more has come into force today, following an outcry from farming communities since it was announced in October 2024. Accountants warn the rules will present "significant challenges" for affected families, many of whom have held land across generations. The policy is part of the same April 6 benefit reset that also ends the two-child welfare cap, delivering average rises of £4,100 a year to larger families.
